The application of recycled rubber in tire

2023-05-16

Partial desulfurization of waste rubber will lead to the reduction of physical properties. In many cases, this may limit its alternative use in high-tech tire products such as passenger car tires. However, the backwheel network believes that for tire products that are not very strict in requirements, in order to reduce costs, the replacement ratio can be higher.

1 Application in retreading tires

The general saying is that recycled rubber cannot be used for tire tread adhesives because it may reduce wear resistance. However, this statement does not apply to desulfurized rubber without chemical reagents.

Natural rubber recycled rubber, there is a considerable amount of use in bias tire tread. Radial tire tread can not add recycled rubber.

2 Application in new tires

When making tires, many different types of rubber and carbon black reinforcers are used. Therefore, recycled rubber powder is mainly a mixture of rubber and carbon black. There are many factors to consider when using rubber powder and desulfurized recycled rubber powder to make new tires.

As rubber filler, desulfurized reclaimed rubber powder can be blended with rubber. The Waste Tire Management Committee reports that 5% of waste tire rubber is used in the production of original Ford Windstar tires.

The amount of recycled rubber used in new tires is not publicly documented, and at most about 10% of the mass fraction of used tire rubber is used in new tires.

According to reports, the tread of the actual on-road test truck tire contains 10% desulfurization rubber by weight, and the wear resistance of the tread is almost equal to that of the tread without the addition of recycled rubber.

3 The application potential of recycled rubber in tires

The number of recycled rubber used in tires is increasing, and the recycled rubber inspection enterprises in previous years are mainly producers, and now they have been transferred to tire factories and other users. It can be seen that the attention and use of recycled rubber is gradually increasing, and the recycling of rubber is no longer an upgrade requirement, but has entered a new stage of standard use.
